The Department of Special Education is dedicated to preparing highly competent special education teachers for the elementary level while fostering expertise in various fields related to special education.
Our department offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, featuring diverse specialized courses. Students can choose from areas such as gifted education, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, hearing impairment, visual impairment, emotional and behavioral disorders, communication disorders, and assistive technology. These programs equip students with valuable professional skills that enhance their career prospects. Additionally, we encourage students to take interdisciplinary courses or pursue dual degrees to broaden their academic and professional horizons.
In recent years, our department has undertaken numerous research projects supported by the National Science Council and the Ministry of Education. We also publish The Journal of Special Education and Rehabilitation, a biannual journal contributing to national research in special education. Our students have frequently been recognized with research awards from the National Science Council.

Our faculty consists of 10 full-time professors with expertise spanning various domains of special education. All faculty members hold doctoral degrees from prestigious universities both domestically and internationally. To further support our students' professional growth, we also invite adjunct professors and experienced instructors.

The majority of our graduates successfully pass the national teacher certification examination. Additionally, a high percentage secure teaching positions through official selection processes conducted by local governments.
